More information is coming from officials working to identify the remains of a person who possibly died in a vehicle fire.

According to Wilbarger County Sheriff Bill Price, the Vernon Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire call around 9:40 a.m. Tuesday on FM 2074.

As the VFD extinguished the fire, they notice a body in the driver’s seat, and officials immediately notified a Wilbarger County Deputy patrolling the area.

Officials with the Wilbarger County Sheriff’s Office then contained the area, and an autopsy has been ordered for the body.

Then VFD, Wilbarger County Sheriff’s Office and State Fire Marshall are investigating the fire and identification of the victim.
