One person injured following chain-reaction accident

Local News

We’re learning more about a chain reaction accident southwest of the Kamay-Y Thursday night that could have been so much worse.

It happened just after 7 p.m. at Crown Lane. DPS Sgt. Dan Buesing said a car traveling north on Highway 82 swerved in-front of a semi truck in the southbound lane. That truck was able to avoid a head-on collision, but still hit the car that spun out and came to rest in the south bound lane.

The 18-wheeler went off into the ditch and struck multiple vehicles, causing one to crash into a house. Then, another car with two people inside going south on Highway 82 crashed into the first car.

Of all of those involved, including people in the house, Buesing said only the driver of the first car was transported to the hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Officials from multiple departments responded to a call off Seymour Highway and Crown Lane.

It happened about 7 p.m. and officials from the Wichita County Sheriff’s Office, Wichita Falls Police Department, Wichita Falls Fire Department, Holliday Fire Department, and Department of Public Safety responded to the wreck.

One woman was taken to the hospital and one child sustained minor injuries.
