DPS Troopers are investigating a hit-and-run fatality collision that causes north and southbound lane closures off I-44 Thursday evening with Sheriff’s deputies assisting.
A 53-year-old woman is dead after her 2003 Ford Explorer collided with another vehicle.
According to Sgt. Dan Buesing, the crash happened around 7 p.m. near Bacon Switch Road. The woman was ejected from her vehicle after the Explorer rolled into the median.
Buesing said the other vehicle did not stop after the collision, but officials were able to stop them.
DPS troopers are asking drivers in the area to use service roads as they continue this investigation.
Eyewitness Clinics of North Texas LVN Ashley Ward said when she arrived on scene before rescuers arrived, two women were trying to pull the woman from the southbound lanes and out of traffic.
Ward said by the time there was nothing that could be done for the victim. Ward said the other car involved drove across the median across the southbound lane and then sped away on the southbound service road by Vitro Architectural Glass.
Sgt. Buesing said that suspect vehicle was found and stopped by law enforcement. so far no other information is available.
