“You either roll over and give up or — you do it or you don’t!”
That’s the message Jamie Morgan gives to her kids every day.
“I get up every day and i give my kids everything I’ve got because they deserve it,” Morgan said. “They deserve the very best teacher they can get.”
It’s a message of resilience, inspiration and grit.
“When i got diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, I said ‘ you do it or you don’t’ and that you deal with it and you accept that diagnosis and you figure out a way to deal with life and move forward or you don’t and you just curl up and give up,” she said. “I think everybody has something they were made to do and I think I am made to teach.”
Even while she’s gone, Morgan chats with her kids on their chromebooks. With the classroom in the trusted hands of her sister-in-law Kimberly Gordon, the lessons keep on rolling.
“If she can handle this with all of the challenges she is faced with every single day then I can most definitely persevere and power through anything that comes in front of me,” Gordon said.
“I see people picking up on it,” said Pay It Forward submitter Susan Cragar. “I see her kids doing it and she’s had kids that are like ‘oh, I can’t do it’ and she’s like ‘yes, you can.'”
“It inspires me to push forward and i really want to make Mrs. Morgan happy,” said Drake Homenyk, a second grader in Morgan’s class.
Drake’s classmate Emma Flippin agrees.
“I hope she feels better soon and I hope she comes back faster,” Emma said.
That’s why Cragar wanted to surprise Morgan and pay it forward — so Morgan can get back to her kids and continue to inspire them every day.
