“I tell everybody he’s my best friend.”
Rock keeps Dolly Duggan steady.
When her last dog died, Duggan said she’d never get another furry best-friend. But when she saw Rock a year and a half ago, her heart melted.
“When I held him, it was love at first sight and he’s been part of the family ever since,” Duggan said.
Rock was just a puppy when he was picked up by John Belcher and Music4Mutts. Since 2015, Belcher has used his love of music to fuel his foster-based adoption service.
“It’s just a good way to draw people in,” Belcher said. “They hear the music. They’re curious and then they come up and they get to see the dogs.
Belcher finds dogs all around Texoma. He brings them in, nurses them back to health and then finds them homes full of love — and treats!
“When they get to a home and you get a picture from the family, there’s a wash that comes over you and it makes it all worth it,” Belcher said.
That’s why Duggan wanted to pay it forward to Music4Mutts, so Belcher can facilitate more happy endings just like hers.
“[Rock is] just part of the family,” Duggan said. “I would be lost without him.”
