Reading is Power

32 million adults in the U.S. Can’t read. That’s 14 percent of our population.
 
So to combat illiteracy early on, two Wichita Falls organizations hosted an event to prove “Reading is Power.”
 
The 4th annual “Reading is Power Educational Banquet” was held tonight at the Wellington.
 
It featured guest speaker Margie Johnson Reese, the Executive Director of the Wichita Falls Alliance for Arts and Culture.
 
25 dollar donations were taken at the door and  businesses could buy a table for 250 dollars.
 
All proceeds support reading improvement skills of youth in our community.
 
Desi Hale, Founder and Director of Kids Go Pro said “reading is power is a program we run focusing on a basic fund foundation with principles of reading phonix, comprehension, and our vision is to help those kids who are reading below grade level to improve their reading skills.”
