Due to heavy rain, the Texas Department of Transportation has closed SH 6 at the bridge project over Raggedy Creek, north of Crowell.

The detour around the bridge project was washed out on Thursday, May 28.  According to Glenn Allbritton, Munday Area Engineer, “The new bridge is scheduled to be complete in approximately one week.  It is the decision of the contractor and TxDOT to not rebuild the detour and re-route the traffic for the duration of the project.

Motorist should plan on taking an alternate route for the immediate future.  SH 6 traffic will be detoured down FM 98 to FM 3103.  TxDOT has placed detour signs at this location to direct traffic around the bridge.

Heavy rain is in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow morning, and TxDOT will continue to monitor road and bridges for flooding conditions and damage.
