November is National Native American Indian Heritage month and today The Sheppard Air Force Base celebrated with a wreath-laying ceremony.
Team Sheppard presented the wreath to the Red River Intertribal Club Members to recognize their contributions to the community. The ceremony began with a history presentation of the Comanche Nation followed by a dance by the Comanche Nation Youth Dancers.
“In the military, We are a diverse group of people so it’s so important that we recognize all of our differences and appreciate them as well.” Tech Sgt. Pamela Hollabaugh, Naihm Project Lead
In addition to today’s ceremony, Heritage Month Project Leaders at Sheppard are giving out educational packets to elementary school students on the base followed by a luncheon later this month.
