Santa Claus will most definitely be coming to see hundreds of area children thanks to the generous employees at Sealed Air Iowa Park and Wichita Falls.
It’s a long-standing tradition for employees there to band together and provide gifts for children in need through the Christmas angel tree project.
Gifts loaded up at the Iowa Park plant Thursday as well as many others bought Thursday night at Wal-Mart will fulfill Christmas wish lists for about 300 children come Christmas morning.
Wichita Child Advocates Executive Director Laura Grimsinger said often times from the child’s point of view Santa Claus has found them.
“When they get placed in care and it’s the holiday season, they worry about whether Santa Claus is going to find them. They absolutely do,” Grimsinger said. “They’re placed with good-hearted people, but they’re strangers so they don’t know if they know Santa Claus. And, so this is very inspiring to them.”
Sealed Air Employee Mashun Tidwell said employees at Sealed Air often shop for their angels before they shop for their own families.
“I think it’s a humbling experience to be able to provide for a child who could never pay you back, who could never return the favor, and you know at the end of the day you’re making some child’s dreams and wishes come true if only for this holiday season,” Tidwell said.
