Section of McNiel Ave. Opens

Local News
It’s almost been a year since construction began on the McNiel Drainage Project, and today, some of the residents along McNiel are finally able to access to their street.

The Texas Department of Transportation along with the City of Wichita Falls Public Works Department opened up the intersection at Southwest Parkway and McNiel Avenue.

The entire $6.5 million project to fix the drainage system still has several months before it’s completed, but residents are happy with the progression.

“Oh absolutely. Yes, absolutely excited,” said Darla Woodruff, a McNiel resident. “I am glad that they had the foresight to block off only a couple of blocks at a time and keep the rest open. That’s been a good thing.”

Again, contruction is still ongoing so McNiel Avenue will remain closed off from Moffett to Stearns.
