A semi rig hauling pecans caught fire west of Iowa Park this afternoon and black smoke and not knowing exactly what was in the trailer at the time caused authorities to shut off US 287 for some time until they could get the fire out.
Fire units from Wichita Falls were called to assist volunteer units on the blaze.
After the fire broke out in the back of the trailer, the driver pulled over near the northbound rest stop and disconnected the truck.
Authorities, at last report, were still working to clean the burned trailer and contents from the roadway.
