Local News

Services are now set for the longest-serving Clay County elected official who passed away over the weekend.

Former Clay County District Clerk Dan Slagle filled his late father’s unexpired term as district clerk in 1979 and served the county until his retirement in 2016.

He was also a volunteer for the Henrietta Volunteer Fire Department.

A graveside service will be Tuesday, May 7 at 2 p.m. at Hope Cemetery in Henrietta.

On that day all Clay County offices will be closed at noon to honor him.

They will also lower the courthouse flags to half-staff.
