Special Olympics fun takes over IPHS stadium

Local News

The Special Olympics took over Hawk Stadium in Iowa Park Saturday.

Teams from all over the area made their way to Iowa Park to compete in the spring games.

About 200 athletes competed in the track and field events.

As important as the competition is to the athletes, these events are also about more than that.

“We had a good turnout today, and the weather is great,” Wichita Falls Blue Jays member Ronnie Baker said. “We are getting to meet all these great athletes out here everybody is getting to interact, exchange phone numbers and making new friends. We got some good competition out here and we really appreciate everyone volunteering and putting this together for our area.”

Baker also said the team will be going to the state event in San Antonio at the beginning of May.
