“Stars and Skies of Texas” event shines bright for local astronomers

Among the pitch black sky in the remote location of Fort Griffin just 45 minutes outside Abilene, Texas, millions of stars shine brightly, and the Texas Historical Commission members will share knowledge of telescopes, astronomy equipment and night sky with community members Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

The “Stars and Skies of Texas” event will be held in the baseball field of the campground, and site staff will collect admission near the entrance of the campground. 

Cost includes $4 for adults, $3 for seniors and children 5 and under are free, and discounts available for families and students.
