A structure fire at a vacant business is under investigation.
The structure fire call went out just after six Wednesday morning for a building in the 2200 block of Avenue F.
When firefighters arrived officials said the whole building was on fire and Battalion Chief Mudd called for an exterior attack only.
The building had once been an upholstery business, and still had some fabric bolts and furniture being stored in the building.
Assistant Fire Marshal Edward Mawson said homeless people had been living in the building.
Mawson said a house in the 1500 block of Polk Street caught fire from direct flame impingement.
While the business is a total loss, Mawson said, the house has approximately $15,000.00 in damages and $3,000.00 in damages to the contents.
There were 15 units and 41 Firefighters at the scene with no injuries to fire personnel or those inside the home. Red Cross was not called and the fire cause is under investigation.
