The NFL draft began last night and while the Dallas Cowboys don’t have a first-round pick, there is plenty of Texas-bred talent awaiting their entrance to the league.
One of those players is TCU players L.J. Collier.
KFDX’s Tobin McDuff had the pleasure to watch his game mature in high school and was able to reunite with him this Thursday afternoon before the draft began.
Most people drive through Munday, Texas. Not too Munday, Texas.
But for defensive end L.J. Collier, it’s home. And it’s where his dreams of playing in the NFL began.
“It’s just an unreal feeling to see all the people in my hometown and how they feel about me. It’s just as crazy for me as it is for them.” L.J. Collier new drafted Seatle Seahawk said.
Collier has always been strong. Physically and mentally.
“I’ve never thought I was less than anybody no matter what anybody told me. I’ve always believed in myself. I’ve had a lot of support but at the end of the day, you have to believe you can do it and I’ve always believed I could do this.” Collier said. “No matter what anybody told ‘ oh you from Munday. Nobody from Munday’s ever done it’ okay! I’ll be the first”.
From defensive MVP for the Munday Moguls to all-big 12 at TCU, Collier has been feared and respected by opposing teams.
“On the field, it’s a warzone. That’s the mindset I bring to it. Hit anybody that’s not wearing the same color as me.” Collier said.
With great performances at the Senior Bowl and the NFL combine, Collier’s draft stock has risen making him a great first round draft pick.
