Easter Sunday is a day of celebration. From churches to parks, families were spending this beautiful day together.
Easter is a special day for all of the churches in the area and those who attend them.
“It’s an incredible time for us as Christians, of course, we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ on a daily basis because of the relationship we have with Christ,” Texoma Cowboy Church Pastor John Riggs said. “It’s so good to see so many families come and make it out. It’s a chance to share the gospel also, which is the good news and that’s what we are here for. There are so many people working together to make all this stuff happen, so our church works together too. It’s a great time for everybody.”
According to Riggs, Easter Sunday sees more people attend church than just about any other day of the year.
“We see two days, Christmas and Easter are those two days,” Riggs said. “I think inherently in our society within the culture of America, there is just something there about those two days that is special, especially when it comes to Christianity. For some people, it is just important that they come then. My prayer is that they would see and understand how great it would be to just be a part of the body of Christ all year round.”
Many churches have special events or services on Easter morning.
“E. It was early in the Easter day. A. That an angel rolled the stone away. S. Swiftly did our Lord awake,” said one child in the program at Pilgrim’s Rest Baptist Church.
“Watch me hold up four ’cause I just have one more. Watch me hold up 5 cause Jesus is alive,” another child in the program said.
Others choose to spend their Easter outside with their families, like Ralph Morales, whose family has been getting together at the park for Easter for about seven years.
“Just out here having are usual family Easter,” Morales said. “Every year. Cooking out. Just waiting on everybody to get here so we can eat. It’s a good time. We set up the volleyball net gonna have a good time. Talk to everybody, just be with them. We are gonna have a good time.”
Even though they may choose to spend the day in different ways, Easter Sunday brings many people and families together.
