For more than 50 years, The Kitchen has been feeding the hungry in Wichita Falls.
It takes a lot of volunteers to make that happen so Thursday night the non-profit held an appreciation dinner for the folks who spend their time helping The Kitchen provide meals through programs like The Red Door and Meals on Wheels.
“When they go out they’re giving to people that can’t give for themselves they’re keeping those people in their homes longer by being there,” Volunteer Coordinator for Meals on Wheels Lisa Williams said. “It’s not just that it’s the heart in it they’re going in and seeing those faces and smiles light up when those people come through their doors.”
Also on Thursday, the non-profit named its volunteer of the year, Lucille Adams, who has delivered more than 28,000 meals in 26 years.
The dinner was also cooked by a guest Master Chef Sean Daniels
