Time capsule placed at Wichita Falls Public Library

Local News

A time capsule now sits inside the Wichita Falls Public Library as the final piece of the library’s centennial year celebrations.

The time capsule included drawings from kids about what they think the library might be like 100 years from now, letters from library staff members to their successors in 2118, a USB drive with digital files recording events from the 2018 centennial celebration, and a few tools of the library trade today.

“Just as we have been curious about the library in 1918, people in 2118, celebrating the library’s bicentennial, might wonder about the library 100 years earlier in 2018. We want to preserve for them some items and files so that they can understand us,” Andrew Jelen, library assistant administrator said.

The time capsule will be opened by future library staff on June 14, 2118.
