A Lawton man accused of the murder of his five-month-old daughter has pleaded not guilty.
His trial has been set for next October.
His bond of one million dollars for first-degree murder by child abuse was kept in place.
Christian Rowson, 20, was charged January 7, for the death of his daughter Alayne, in late December.
According to police, Rowson was at a home on Northwest 14th Street smoking marijuana and playing video games when his daughter started to cry in her bouncer next to him.
Police said he told them the crying frustrated him and he picked her up and placed her in the crib on her stomach then struck the back of Alayne’s head with the palm of his hand.
Later that afternoon, Rowson said he noticed his daughter wasn’t breathing and called 911.
The medical examiner determined the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head and the baby had a skull fracture that was not consistent with a fall and also had bleeding in her brain and a broken rib.
Police said Rowson admitted to hitting his daughter’s head with force on multiple occasions and throwing his daughter into her crib.
