Two charged after allegedly carrying marijuana in a rental truck

Two are charged with felony possession of marijuana after a Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper stopped a Penske rental truck and uncovered over 150 pounds of marijuana on Saturday.

According to DPS Sergeant Dan Buesing, around 9:55 a.m. Saturday a trooper stopped the rental truck that was traveling on U.S. Highway 287 near Iowa Park.

The trooper and a Wichita County Sheriff’s Office canine discovered “numerous packages of marijuana hidden in building supplies” that weighed 155 pounds, according to Buesing.

Jose Jamido Gonzalez, 51, and John Thomas Macaluso, 45, both from Colorado were arrested and booked into the Wichita County jail, both have since bonded out.

DPS officials said the marijuana was allegedly being transported from Colorado Springs, Colo. to Florida City, Fla.
