In an effort to realign intersections, TX-DOT is making improvements along Highway 79 and FM 1954.
TX-DOT hosted a two-hour public meeting for residents to come by and see the plans and ask any questions they may have. Currently, five streets go into this intersection so TX-DOT officials said realigning this intersection was necessary for safety reasons.
“It’s been a year now, we have taken all of their suggestions and we have come up with a new plan for this intersection. We have short-term upgrades going in the next few years. Which will improve the safety and connectivity of this area,” Public Information Officer Adele Lewis said.
The improvements currently being evaluated are:
- TX DOT is working with archer county officials to modify Bowman road intersection.
- Adding turn lanes within the existing right-of-way.
- Grade improvements, building up FM 1954. Minor realignment to FM 1954 to make the intersection closer to a 90-degree angle.
- Adding illumination to the intersection and/or a flashing yellow signal.
