Unemployment rates rise for June

The Texas Workforce Commission announced that it will delay the reinstatement of the work search requirement for unemployment benefits.

Unemployment rates in Texoma rose in every county except one during June.

The average rate for North Texas rose to 3.8 percent from 3.3 percent in May.

The lowest rate was once again recorded in Jack County, but it also rose four-tenths of a percent.

The highest rate was in Wilbarger County at 4.6 percent.

In Wichita County, the rate rose to 4 percent and in Wichita Falls it climbed from 4.2 percent from 3.4 percent in May and is also higher and than June 2017.

The state average is also up from last month. The Midland area had the lowest rate in the state at 2.4 percent.
