United Regional officials are about to flip the switch on a major technology upgrade. The hospital system will go live with a new program called ‘EPIC’.
The hospital will utilize EPIC as its new electronic health record. The new system is the way of the future in healthcare, as 60% of physicians in medical school are trained on EPIC.
It will also be integrated through MyChart: an app that helps patients become more involved with their health. These tools are something united is very excited to have.
“I’m just excited about what it will bring for our team and for our community,” United Regional President & CEO Phyllis Cowling said.
“I think our current system is getting up to the extent of what its capable of doing. We want something that takes us beyond the walls of the hospital and through the 21st century,” Dr. Brett May, United Regional Trauma Director, said.
EPIC is set to go live April 6.
