Department Public Safety investigators are working to determine what caused a fatal accident Wednesday morning on Highway 287 west of Burnett Ranch Road.
Officials said Elaine Soriano, 23, from California was south on the highway when she went into the center median then overcorrected, skidding sideways across the highway and into a ditch.
The SUV rolled several times and eventually flipped on its roof. She died at the scene.
Meanwhile, her male passenger Thomas Bauer, 25, from Mansfield is being treated at United Regional with what appear to be non-life threatening injuries.
It happened around 7:50 a.m. Wednesday on Highway 287 about a mile west of Burnett Ranch Road.
Sgt. Dan Buesing said both the female driver from California and the passenger were wearing seatbelts.
