UPDATE: High police presence at Highpoint Village Apartments

Local News

One person is arrested following a shooting at a Wichita Falls apartment complex.

WFPD were called to the HighPoint Village apartments around 10:30 p.m. Saturday.

Sergeant Brett Hart said one of the department officers was watching a suspicious car at the apartments.

The officer described it as a maroon Cadillac with three people inside.

The officer said the car spotted the officer’s police unit and backed up to the curb.

The police officer then initiated a traffic stop and asked the driver if he had something illegal in the car.

The officer said someone said they had marijuana with them.

Then a man became verbally abusive causing the officer to call for backup.

A fight then began between one of the vehicle occupants and the officer.

Sergeant Hart said during the fight, someone from across the street fired several rounds.

Police arrested the driver of the vehicle but have not made any arrests connected to the shooting.

No injuries have been reported.
