Local News

UPDATE: Robert Floyd Pierce’s memorial will be Tuesday the 29th at 2:00 at the First Baptist Church in Vernon.

Friday’s deadly explosion in Quanah was ruled accidental by the fire marshall.

The explosion at Isnhower Automotive Repair claimed the life of Robert Floyd Pierce. Pierce was a retired lieutenant with the Vernon Fire Department and was also a part-time worker at the repair shop.

The owner Gerald Isnhower and his brother Robert were able to make it out of the shop alive with significant burns.

Gerald is now in serious condition at the Lubbock Burn Center.

Robert is listed in stable condition.

Hardeman County Sheriff Pat Laughery said, at this time, the investigation shows the men were working on a fuel tank when something happened, meaning it possibly fell, and the fuel ignited with a nearby heater.
