Update: The Vernon police chief said Walter Emilio Orellana, 23, is the man involved in the officer-involved shooting that left two injured Saturday afternoon.

Update: The Texas Rangers are investigating a Vernon officer-involved shooting that left two injured Saturday afternoon.

Officers went to the 1500 block of Mansard Street to serve several felony warrants to an individual at the residence.

When officers arrived, the suspect attempted to flee and opened fire on the officers.

Officers on the scene then fired at the suspect which was then taken into custody and transported to a nearby hospital.

According to the Burkburnett Police Association, the officer is identified as Cpl. TJ Sessions with the Vernon PD.

The suspect was then taken to JPS Trauma in Fort Worth and is listed as stable.

The name of the suspect is not released at this time.

Update: A Vernon police officer is in the hospital in stable condition following a shooting Saturday afternoon.

Cpl. TJ Sessions responded to a call at the corner of Bowie and Mansard streets. 

According to the Burkburnett Police Association’s Facebook page, Sessions is in stable condition.

The incident is under investigation but stay with Texoma’s Homepage as we learn more information.
