UPDATE: Power restored to Clay County, boil order in place

UPDATE: According to power company officials, electricity has been restored to Byers, Dean and Petrolia Thursday afternoon, and a boil order is still in place until Tuesday for the area.

UPDATE: City officials have issued a boil order for Petrolia in connection to the three Clay County towns without power, according to officials with Texas-New Mexico Power.

Outage map shows 860 customers are without electricity in Byers, Dean and Petrolia.

The outage began before 11:30 a.m. Thursday. Originally, crews hoped to have power restored by 1 p.m. Thursday. However, the restoration time has now been adjusted to 10 p.m. Thursday.

According to TNMP officials, the outage is going to take time, including bringing additional equipment into the area. 

The cause for the outage is not known at this time.
