Vehicle Registration Process Changes in March

Local News
If you register a vehicle in the state of Texas, the way you do it will soon be changing.

In just ten days, you’ll no longer have to keep up with both a vehicle registration and vehicle inspection sticker, you’ll have to keep up with just one.

You’ll still have to get your vehicle inspected, and have to make sure your registration is up to date.

But starting March 1st, all inspection sticker issuing agencies and Texas Department of Motor Vehicle Agencies will be on the same computer system.

“You are going to get your vehicle inspected first and you will come into your local registration office and you will get your renewal registration. The system will automatically verify whether your vehicle inspection is valid or not,” Maribel Longoria, Clay Co. Tax Assessor-Collector said.

You will not be able to register your vehicle if it hasn’t passed inspection.

Officials say the inspection fee and the registration fee will stay the same.
