Local News

Vernon city officials have approved a contract with Red River Authority of Texas for the selling of treated and raw water.

After the approval, the commission also passed unanimously the rate to charge.

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and Environmental Protection have ordered Red River to supply treated water to the Hines community because of the high nitrates in the water.

According to the Vernon Record, to rectify the nitrate problem, Red River has purposed to install one eight inch pipeline from the city of Vernon’s nitrate treatment plant to both the Hines and Northside communities at their experience.
