The Vernon Independent School District superintendent is looking to make improvements to energy efficiency in the school district.
The $1.34 million project will change all lighting to LED bulbs in the schools, administrative center, the maintenance and transportation buildings and more.
There will also be changes to the control panels and this E3 program should save the district over $100,000 over a ten to 12 year period.
“The decisions that we make and the reason that we are putting the research into these projects is we wanna make sure that we are being fiscally responsible with the fund balance that we currently have,” Vernon ISD Superintendent Jeff Byrd said.
Vernon ISD is now debt free after paying the last of a previously owed bond this past February.
Byrd assures residents that this project will in no way affect taxpayers.
