In November, folks who live within the Wichita Falls ISD will be voting on who will present them on the board of trustees.
Monday, three of the candidates held a meet and greet at the French Country Meadow. Local realtor Katherine McGregor is running the two-year at-large term and Susan Grisel is running for the 4-year- at large term and running for the place three school board seat, Mark Lukert. All three felt it was important to run but for three different reasons.
“I’ve been an educator for 43 years and I believe with all of my heart that we need an educator on that board. Because I know what’s going on. I’ve known the principal for 23 years and I just think we need an educator on the board,” Lukert said.
“We need a mom with kids in the district on the board. It’s not currently represented. Teachers and administrators and parents know what is happening in the schools,” Grisel said.
“I have been interested in the school board and the school system for a long time and I have four children who have all come through the system and I really think the school is critical to the health and worth of Wichita Falls,” McGregor said.
If you missed tonight’s meet and greet, all three candidates will be hosting another session on Tuesday, Oct. 16.
