Many hungry Wichitans gathered in the Old High cafeteria Saturday for their Western Burger luncheon.
The WFISD had 90 pre-orders Saturday, and as a new spin on this tasty tradition. Western Burger nachos were available.
Debbie and Mark Turnbow were eager to get to the feed after it was postponed last weekend.
“They’ve been serving them for years in school, everybody remembers them,” Mark Turnbow said.
Mark Turnbow also said the woman who came up with this, Emily Anderson, used to take care of his mother and told him and his wife to come by for a good meal.
The head chef informed us these Western Burgers will be a permanent feature on the menu of WFISD’s food truck next year.
All proceeds from the feed will help support the WFISD’s child nutrition Farm-to-School initiative.
