Wichita Falls police are trying to determine what led to at least one person being shot Thursday night at a home on 9th Street.
Detectives have a large crime scene and many witnesses to interview to also try to determine who’s responsible.
“I told 9-1-1 I didn’t know if anyone got shot or not but I know that it sounded like it,” Jodi Langford, who heard the shots, said.
Langford and Jeremy Murray had just gotten home at around 9:45 p.m.
Jodi was on the phone with 9-1-1 soon after.
“I parked my truck in the driveway and I’m walking around the front porch,” Jeremy Murray said. “I parked my truck in the driveway and I’m walking around the front porch. She parked in a different direction and was coming around, and we hear the gunshots, seven clips. She said ‘was that a gunshot?’ or ‘were those gunshots?’ I said ‘yeah, those were gunshots.’
“Told them they unloaded a clip, but we saw people running around like crazy over there,” Langford said.
Officer Jeff Hughes said police received a call about shots being fired here in the 1900 block of 9th Street.
“Officers did arrive on scene,” Hughes said. “They did learn a disturbance had broken out at a residence here in the block behind where we’re standing now.”
Soon after arriving, an officer was performing CPR on a gunshot victim until paramedics arrived.
That man was rushed to the hospital.
Another man, who appeared to have first been in handcuffs, was also taken to the hospital
“There were some shots fired. We do have a couple of subjects that were transported to the hospital, however, I don’t have any information what those injuries might be or the conditions of either who were transported,” Hughes said.
The crime scene stretches about a half block between Van Buren and Denver.
Hughes said some people are detained for questioning while many others are also being questioned in their search for answers.
