College students may be the easiest people on earth to buy for. They need everything and they love gadgets.
One of my favorite gadgets of the year is the CREATIVE super x-fi headphone amp. It’s a pocket-sized dongle that plugs in between the headphones or earbuds you use now, and your device. CREATIVE calls it 360-degree sound, customized for the person listening. Scan your ears, and the super x-fi re-maps the sound. It isn’t just louder, it sounds like you’re in the recording studio. I was skeptical but it was one of the big award winners at this year’s CES.
If they’ll be moving soon, take a look at streaming devices like Amazon’s Firestick or, one of Roku’s players. The ROKU streaming stick + is portable, has a voice-remote and brings in all of the content available from Amazon, Netflix Hulu, YouTube, and plenty others. Roku also has its own free movie channel. ROKU has the easiest menu to navigate. It’ll stream HD, 4K and HDR content.
Plug-in chargers are so…2017. With the latest smartphones, it’s all about wireless charging. The Ventev ChargePad + works with almost every smartphone. Just place the phone on the pad. And it’s a fast charge so it doesn’t take as long as some chargers you plug into the wall. I like the form factor…very slim and covered with fabric. And if you don’t think fast charging makes a big difference, you haven’t tried it yet.
Finally an Apple Watch. It’ll track their fitness, take and send text messages and keep track of all those job interviews. The Apple Watch Series 4 is the latest, but the series 3 is about the same, except it’s a $120 cheaper
If they’re an Android user, the SAMSUNG Galaxy Watch is a great accessory and will do most everything an Apple Watch can do, and then some
If they have one already, how ’bout a professional looking watch band. Apple’s bands are overpriced. You can find stylish bands on Amazon for less than$20. Just make sure you get the right size.
These gadget gifts for grads will be a big hit no matter what they’re doing after school.
