UPDATE: The aggravated assault against a public servant charge against Fernando Feliz-Marcos Rangel was dismissed by Judge Judy Baker, Justice of the Peace Precinct 4 due to no probable cause.

A Wichita Falls firefighter is behind bars after allegedly hitting a Wichita County Sheriff’s Office patrol unit while under the influence.

Fernando Feliz-Marcos Rangel, 40, was originally charged with aggravated assault against a public servant and driving while intoxicated. However, the aggravated assault charge was later dismissed due to no probable cause. He was booked into the Wichita County jail at 4 a.m. Thursday.

Following his arrest, KFDX filed an open records request with the city of Wichita Falls about Rangel’s employee status. The report from the city clerk’s office confirms that Rangel has been with the Wichita Falls Fire Department since 2006. He has been a fire equipment operator since 2015 and is still currently employed.

More information behind his arrest should be available once his arrest affidavit is filed.
