A 26-year-old Wichita Falls man who was arrested when a stolen cell phone gave police his location, gets 15 months in state jail on four charges of theft and one charge of unauthorized use of a vehicle.
26-year-old Shawn Kea was arrested in July of 2017 when the victim called them and said he had tracked his ringing cell phone to the Wayfarer Motel.
He said his backpack had been stolen from Castaway Cove Water Park and one of the cell phones inside was pinging in room 244.
Police talked to the occupants of that room and they matched the descriptions given by water park employees of two possible thieves.
All of the victim’s property was recovered except for some cash.
Kaitlyn Stroud previously was sentenced to 30 days in jail.
Kea has four previous convictions for theft, plus burglary, evading arrest, criminal mischief, criminal trespass, assault, and others.
