A woman accused of beating her 10-year-old son appeared in court today. Starla Chester appeared for a pre-trial conference.
Back in February of last year, Iowa Park school officials contacted police about a boy having blood on his face, hands and legs, and a swollen eye. The boy first told authorities the injuries were caused by a sibling, but later said his mother began hitting him because he took some gum.
Police say Chester also admitted to using a coat hanger in the past to hit the boy. In July, Chester was indicted for injury to a child and was also charged with tampering with a witness. She’s accused of trying to bribe her son saying he could have his 4-wheeler back if he told authorities she did not hit him.
In a January hearing Chester was denied child visitation privileges.
