Woman attempts to purchase clothes with fake money, charged with forgery

A woman arrested in June when police said she had a forged $1,000 check is back in jail, accused of trying to use a fake $100 bill marked as “play money” at a Walmart.

Amber Rogers, 29, is charged with forgery and also possession of a controlled substance.

Police said they were called to Walmart on Lawrence Road about a woman trying to buy a shirt with a $100 bill that was marked as “play money.”

Officers said they located Rogers at Sam’s Club, and she told them she had tried to use cash to buy a shirt but was denied.

When the officer asked to see her cash, she showed him the bill marked play money.  

Rogers last arrest was in June when police found her on a street corner and she appeared intoxicated. They said she told them she had taken “bath salts.”‘

Officers said a $1,000 check made out to herself fell to the ground, and she said it was payment for maid service at a house, but the officers she could not tell them where the house was, and then admitted she made the check out herself.
