An Iowa Park woman is charged with theft over $2,500 after police officers said she performed a rapid transfer scheme to get funds into her Wichita Falls bank account.

Whitney Michelle Hendershot, 30, also known as Whitney Sweed, allegedly committed theft against

American National Bank where officers said she had an account.

A bank official said Hendershot made three external bank transfers to her account which would allow immediate withdrawal of those funds.

They said Hendershot then withdrew just under $5,900 before the bank could establish the transfers from another bank were not valid.

Bank officials said Hendershot would not respond to letters requesting repayment.

An officer said he spoke to Hendershot and she admitted the theft and said a friend made the transfers, and that she said she would make arrangements to repay the money.

However, a bank official said no attempt was made to repay the funds, and Hendershot was then arrested.
