Woman sentenced after allegedly stealing Xanax from special needs boy

Local News

The former caregiver for a special needs boy is sentenced for stealing the boy’s medications, as well as other property from the home.

Tanya Casados, 42, pleaded guilty and was given a two year deferred suspended sentence.

In Feb. 2017, a Burkburnett man called police after he noticed his son’s Xanax was missing when the boy was having a panic attack.

The man said he texted Casados who provided care for his son and told her he’d also noticed other things missing from his home, and that he was firing her.

The man says after the call,  Casados returned some property in a box in the backyard, along with an apology note.

Police say Casados admitted to stealing multiple other items from the family worth over $2,500 and brought them to police.
