A Wichita Falls woman is sentenced after pleading guilty to injury to a child.
Police officers said she dragged her young son, slammed him to the ground, and bit him because she did not want him and his brother to go to church with their grandmother.
Viola Cornelison, 32, was given three years probation for her injury to a child charge, but her charge for resisting arrest was dismissed.
The victim told police his mother came home very intoxicated on a Saturday night in September, and his grandmother came over to watch them.
He said he and his two brothers got up Sunday and wanted to go to church with their grandmother. He said his mother got angry and slammed him on the ground and bit him on the hand when he tried to leave.
Police officers said when they arrived at the house, Cornelison’s speech was slurred and she appeared to pass out several times.
They finally broke in and cuffed her on the ground after a brief struggle.
