All birthdays are special, but one Texoman’s birthday is right around the corner, and we really want to share with you.

Joe Cuba is a World War II veteran living at Brookdale Senior Living Solutions in Wichita Falls and he’ll be celebrating 100 years of life on March 2. Cuba grew up in Megargel, Texas and is one of 12 children.

Cuba married in 1943 before enlisting in the Army Air Corps to defend this nation and then came home to Texoma.

Throughout his life, Cuba said he has stuck to these wise words.

“Just keep on trucking. When you like to do something, do it,” Cuba said. “If you don’t, don’t. but I’ll say if you’re interested in something, and have a chance to presume then life will get a hold of it and stay with it. Stay with something and you’ll get ahead. You’ll be okay.”

Cuba said he enjoys drinking coffee with his fellow veteran buddies at Brookdale and said he’s thankful for his health more than anything.

He does have one birthday wish by the way to receive 100 birthday cards.

We want to help make that birthday wish come true and would love for you to join us.

Cards for Cuba can be mailed or dropped off at Brookdale Senior Living on Midwestern Parkway between now and March 2.
