Mac Thornberry on SCOTUS Ruling

13th District Congressman, Mac Thornberry says he’s still convinced Obamacare is a bad idea.

He says it increases premiums, cuts medicare, and has a “one size fits all” approach to healthcare, which he says does not work.

But, Thornberry is also extremely disappointed in the Supreme Court ruling, because he says the court basically took over law, writing responsibilities the constitution gives Congress, and he says inserted into law words that do not exist.

“There are three major sections of the Obamacare law that the supreme court has one time or another rewritten, and their excuse is they’ve got to do that in order to make the law work. So, they’re trying to put into the law what they think congress should have done instead of just looking at the letter of law as congress at that time passed it. And, that’s disturbing. That is not what the supreme court is supposed to do under our constitution, Thornberry said.

Thornberry says there still needs to be improvements in our health care system, and believes parts of the Affordable Care Act could survive.

But, he says he does not believe it’s here to stay as written.

He says Congress will continue to work to repeal and replace it.
