Man Charged With Impersonating Wichita Falls Business Owner

News

A 49-year-old Iowa Park man is charged with impersonating a Wichita Falls business man on social media.

Thomas Cecil Sims was booked into jail Tuesday afternoon on a $10,000 bond, and apparently posted bond and was released a few minutes later on the felony charge.

Police say Sims began impersonating Jody Wade on Facebook in October.

According to the affidavit, Wade reported Sims, whom he had had problems with in the past, set up a Facebook account using Wade’s photo and calling it ‘Joe Deep Wade.’

Wade said he even received a friend request from the page.

Police say the photo on the page was a mugshot of Jody Wade.

The telephone number on the Facebook account was to a phone owned by Sims.

Also Sims’ drivers license number was on the account.

When questioned, police say Sims said he  has seen something about the ‘Joe Deep Wade’ page and  that he and Wade had had problems about the way the city was handling the towing situation.

Wade operates Big Daddy’s Towing company.
