Ebola Troops Come Home

(WBAL) A U.S. military medical unit returned to Maryland’s Aberdeen Proving Ground Monday after overseeing mobile Ebola testing laboratories in Liberia for four months.

The homecoming ceremony honored the 22-member 1st Area Medical Laboratory. The unit commanded a joint task force that ran six labs.

Loved ones held signs, like one reading “Welcome home dad,” as they greeted the returning members.

Pfc. Michael Major said he couldn’t wait to hold his 4-month-old son, Bradley, who was just two weeks old when he got deployed.

“Just holding him here and just holding his head up is just amazing. When I left, he couldn’t do anything at all. For him to be sitting here is the best feeling,” Major said.
