Five wounded in daycare stabbing

National News

In Queens, New York, police say a 52-year-old woman attacked a female co-worker with knives, stabbed two infants and slashed a third.

All three of the infants, less than a month old.

A father who tried to stop the attack was also stabbed.

Police say it happened in a home apparently operating as a nursery, but the home was not a licensed daycare.

“I think everybody is just shocked, because when these things happen, you don’t see it coming, right?” said neighbor Priscilla Merli.

Police found the suspect in the basement, with her wrists slashed, and she was admitted into the hospital in police custody.

Both adult victims were in critical condition, and authorities say the three infants are all in critical condition, but stable.

The motive behind the stabbing spree is unknown.
