Two men charged in the shooting death of 21-year-old Domanic Thrasher have had their murder charges modified by new indictments.

One of them, 21-year-old Blayne Brooks, was in 30th District Court Friday morning for a status briefing.
Family and friends attended the hearing wearing shirts with Thrasher’s number from Rider High School.

Brooks and 26-year-old Justin Love were reindicted this week, and their murder charges were changed to engaging in organized criminal activity: murder.

Brooks will be in court again April 15 to announce if he will plead or go to trial.

The charges were amended because authorities say they were attempting to deliver marijuana and killed Thrasher during that crime.

The arrest affidavit for Brooks says Thrasher was buying marijuana from Brooks and another suspect, but Thrasher tried to run off with the drugs without paying, and was shot.

Whitney Mercedes O’Brien is the third suspect and is charged with murder.

Her affidavit says she named Brooks as the person who fired the shots, and Love as the driver.

Police say they interviewed O’Brien on July 29 and she told them she had gone with Love and Brooks to complete a drug transaction.
