On Newsfeed Now for March 5, our top story took us to Alabama where recovery continues from Sunday’s deadly tornado in Lee County. WIAT’s Jessalyn Adams had our update from the scene of a school that was destroyed by the storm. Officials said Monday the killer twister packed 170 mph winds as it roared across a 24 mile long path.
From our nation’s capital at 7:15 into the show Washington Correspondent Drew Petrimoulx joined the conversation with an update on the legal fight for a former “ISIS bride” to get back into the U.S. Hoda Muthana’s family is suing the government to allow their daughter back into the country. It’s a battle that continues in Federal Court. The woman has said she now regrets her support of ISIS and wants to come home to face the American justice system.
At 13:15 into today’s show, it was time to party! We jumped into two of the biggest Mardi Gras celebrations. There was Fat Tuesday fun to be found in New Orleans where WVLA’s Carly Laing had the latest and then we checked in with WKRG’s Bill Riales from Mobile, Alabama. Laissez les bon temps rouler (let the good times roll)!
